Pro Cycling - June
The June issue of Procycling continues with the Tour of Italy theme of our Giro special issue last month. Gilberto Simoni – now the race favourite, along with bête noire Damiano Cunego, in Ivan Basso’s abscence – and Saunier Duval team-mate Riccardo Riccò shoot the breeze about media pressure, Basso’s descending skills and rooming together. Staying with the Italian theme, Alessandro Petacchi – the Italian sprint star who, until last year’s Giro where he crashed and broke his kneecap, seemed unbeatable – talks about his attempts to return to the top, as does, another crash victim, Crédit Agricole’s Saul Raisin, whose injuries were so severe that it looked unlikely he would walk again, let alone ride his bike. There's a profile of the Tinkoff Credit Systems team – the brainchild of Russian Oleg Tinkov, Russian entrepreneur and former caviar salesman. Last, but not least: Chris Boardman delivers – his view on the great helmet debate.
