Cycling Weekly - May 17th

If you're in the market for a new road bike, the chances are you'll be considering one of the growing range of sportive models. There's a boom in long-distance, semi-competitive rides and the top manufacturers haven't been slow in creating specific models as an alternative to out-and-out race bikes.

This week features the annual Sportive bike showdown, pitching Specialized's S-Works Roubaix against the full-carbon Colnago CLX, Litespeed's entry-level Ardennes model, plus the Silk Road titanium steed from new kids on the block - Sunday Bicycles.

Also this issue: Irish legend Sean Kelly shows his favourite back roads in Majorca, there's the inside story on Chris Hoy's kilo world record bid, all the gossip from the opening days of the Tour of Italy, a chat with Olympic rowing hero James Cracknell about his cycling ambitions and the CW staff go back to school to try-out Bikeability, the all-new version of the Cycling Proficiency Test.
