Red card scourge returns
When are the FA going to sort out this ridiculous red card rule.
Robbie Keane - on a hattrick - deflects away Ivan Campo's goalbound shot, possibly with his hand.
Fair enough. Penalty.
But that's punishment enough, surely?
A red card as well is double punishment.
I realise the philosophy from old - bring someone down cynically, have the penalty saved and then the defending team has not lost out.
But those cynical decisions happen very rarely, and there is now no middle ground between honest defending and downright cheating - it's all the same in the eyes of the FA.
At least the team proved they didn't need Robbie, and he got in the bar first as well.

Carling Cup Final
Seems that people get less excited about this year after year.
All good for the game when teams like Wycombe make it through to the latter stages, but I can't say I even knew the final was this weekend until I saw it advertised last night.
Wenger reckons he will keep faith with youth, but it's all very well experimenting in the earlier rounds, but in a Final?
As for Chelsea, they don't even have a weakended second team so we know what to expect from them.
I might flick over if I'm in and it's on, but apart from that, does anyone really care about it anymore?

Welsh Open - great entertainment
Congratulations to Neil Robertson on a breathtaking Welsh Open title.
It seemed destined the match would go down to a decider and it was a fitting finale to a very exciting tournament.
You have to feel for the English fella but that's the way it goes and he staged a great fightback to put himself in with a chance of a shock.
Here's Higginson's 147 from the tournament :

Welsh Open - Paul Hunter
With the Welsh Open going on at the moment, I thought it might be a nice tough to add this clip from old, featuring the late great Paul Hunter, and his 141 against Ken Doherty.

7-balling
I've always been quite a good snooker player but last night pulled off two 7-balling attempts.
Unreal.
I have started a technique of ball clearance that means you always attempt to pot the ball closest to you.
That way you maintain as much control as possible on both the cue itself and the white ball and are never too far out of position.
Given the luck that the balls are well split anyway (essential for any attempt) this is a principle that has really started working for me.
Try it, just for one frame maybe. It's amazing.
Don't let it happen to you.
(No forfeit though, and we all know what that is!)

Snooker partner wanted
Anyone live around the Tooting or Clapham area who fancies a game of snooker?
Since my best friend moved back to Malmo I've no-one to play against, so please PM me if you are interested.
Average standard - not a world-beater - and would love to play casually against anyone.
