Stop At Red pledge
I almost got bowled over as I crossed a set of traffic lights today.
I was on foot, and a cycling came tearing through looking for a short-cut around the corner and as a nice diversion from having to wait for the lights to change.
Of course, in the same way as motorcyclists coming up on the outside of stationary traffic, this is illegal, and as much as cyclists are usually the ones being hard done by, as a pedestrian this morning I kind of realised that we're not all as blameless and we might like to think we are.
I then hunted out
Stop at Red
and for those of you wanting to do the right thing, it might be worth a look.
Of course, if you're not fussed, just remember it might soon be you ambling across a zebra crossing only to find your progress cut short by one of your fellow two-wheelers.
Just a thought.

Keep cycling on track
I implore all cyclists on ISporty to give their time and attention to the government's proposed white paper on the provision of train access for cyclists, that is due to be published in July.
This is a serious campaign that will directly affect the freedom we have as cyclists to use trains and to continue to enjoy the bike/commute mode of transport.
At a time when the government is seemingly obsessed with carbon emmisions and the general imploring of people to do their bit, it is a complete farce that we are having to watch over their moves on such an issue as bike access.
They cannot be trusted. You just have to look at the provisions they have made for the London to Brighton bike ride (none, in other words) to know that.
So please have a look at the website below and do all you can to put pressure on the people who really shouldn't have to be reminded.
Thanks.

Manure
When will United learn - they're not going to win anything with Darren Fletcher and John O'Shea pulling the strings.
The weak links in that side shine out like a beacon - Wes Brown FFS!
Replace those three and keep Giggs and Scholes away from their pensions and they might just go all the way next year, but until then ... ?

Club versus country row
Seems this is only going to escalate over the coming weeks, with the latest arguments surrounding FIFA and their payout to Newcastle United for Michael Owen's injury.
£50,000 a week towards wages is really not bad, and although United didn't get the £6m or so they (somehow) worked out the compensation to be, £1m is still £1m more than we would have received in the old days.
The Oulmers legal case in Belgium still rumbles on also, so it will be interesting to see what develops out of even more of these cases, because for certain they will crop up again.

Bergkamp genius
As much as it pains me to see anyone score against us, this was surely one of the best to have ever ended up in the Toon net.

Sibierski's bad breath
As much as I was disappointed that my hero from last week - Solano - fluffed his lines from the penalty spot, I had to laugh at keeper Filan's excellent reaction to Sibierski when he confronted him for going down for what was admittedly a pretty soft penalty, infering Anto had bad breath.
If you'd seen it, you'll know what I was talking about.
At least Steven Taylor was man enough to admit the 5,000 travelling Toon army had been badly let down.
