I have been a Chelsea supporter all my life. Coming from Guernsey (not Dorset, as my profile suggests, because the Channel Islands aren't on the list) you have no automatic allegiance to an English team. In the early 60s Chelsea got promoted, I liked the name and the colour blue. At school I was better at cricket - a fast bowler who rose to the big occasion (best figures 8-5-9-9). That was after remodelling my action from a windmilling effort to a sleek, understated, cool-as-you-like last-minute whiplash based on that of my hero, John Snow. I gave it up 10 years ago after developing back trouble (the classic fast bowler's ailment). Am now suffering from lack of satellite TV, although on recent form, missing England playing is no disaster. Football? Well, the only thing wrong with the current Chelsea squad is the lack of Charlie Cooke - although Mourinho wouldn't play him much anyway.

After the grumpy Wednesday morning 'Was there a football match last night? I didn't see it' we get Wednesday night and Man U coming uns...
