Watford against the Gooners
Another game brings yet another defeat. But this was an encouraging effort from a team with supposedly no hope of staying in the Premiership. The Hornets took the game to Arsenal yet poor marking enabled Gilberto to head home the opener. But Bouazza was inspired and his pace created the equaliser for Tommy Smith. Smith’s first goal since returning to the Vic was long overdue and the winger still has plenty to prove to convince us.
For an hour we dreamt of climbing off the anchor of the league. But Van Persie had other ideas and his decisive finish ensured Watford suffered another gutsy loss. The truth is all the effort in the world will not keep us up with the current squad. Injuries to Shittu and Bouazza only compound our problems.
Aidy will need to be very busy in January. He knows this but whether he can get in four or five players capable of both scoring and creating goals is doubtful.
Wigan at home on Saturday is one of those targeted matches and nothing less than a win will suffice.

Sport and me
This is my first blog entry on tired and tested.com. I saw the advert in the Evening Standard listed under the best new websites and it looked ideal for me. As a compulsive sportsman/ sports fan/ sports writer, I felt I had to check it out. So over the coming weeks I will be venting my anger at Aidy Boothroyd’s failure to buy a striker for Watford, or slating the England cricket team for their sheer incompetence. But hopefully it will be topical, informative and perhaps even interesting. Stay tuned for the next instalment of all things sporty. And occasionally unsporting such as anything related to Jose Mourinho.
