Let the pain begin

Okay, the sprinters have had their fun, and we hope they've enjoyed it.
But today Le Tour begins to take on its darker side. Today's Stage Five certainly doesn't threaten any of the agony that Saturday's Col de la Columbiere will hold, but the 182.5km Chablis to Autun ride has some decent climbs, and the true pattern of this year's event may well begin to emerge today.

Fabian Cancellara retains the overall leader's yellow jersey, but whether he'll still have it in his possession at the end of today seems in greater doubt.
