What's the best chant of the season?

Posted Feb 28th 2007, 12:12pm by Reiss Malone

Nuts Magazine are continuing their "2007 WKD Nuts Football Awards". This week's category is the best chant of the season. One of our favourities is "He'll shoot, he'll score, he'll eat your labrador, Seol Ki-Hyeon, Seol Ki-Hyeon!" Brilliant!!

In an age where most Premiership clubs boast numerous European Cups, FA Cup successes and the like, it's good to have a bit of normality and reality restored. Therefore, the best chant of the season HAS to be Wigan Athletic's "We won it two times! We won it two times! Autowindscreens, we won it two times!". Sure, the first of these was when it was called the Freight Rover Trophy, but you have to admire the wit. MB

Posted Mar 6th 2007, 1:05pm by Matt Harrison

Has to be - ''Let's talk about Cesc baby, let's talk Fla-mi-ni, lets talk about Theo Walcott, Freddie Ljungberg and Henry, let's talk about Cesc''! I am not a gooner, but that's very very good!

Posted Mar 6th 2007, 3:36pm by Ross Hudson

At the '98 Auto Windscreens Final the Grimsby fans came armed with thousands of inflatable haddock. When Bournemouth went one-up, the Mariners' fans sang, "You only sing when you're winning" to which the Cherries faithful responded with the fantastic, "You only sing when you're fishing". Priceless!!

Got to be when Jon Drummond staged an 'on-track' protest for being disqualified from the quarter-final of the 100 metres at the 2003 World Atheltics Championships. 'I did not precede the line!' - no Jon you didnt but your foot twitched on the block triggering the sensors. No amount of American histrionics and bravado would save JD this time, even after lying down on the track for 5 minutes, whipping the crowd into a frenzy, he eventually was escorted out of the stadium, wept, and threw himself in a nearby fountain. Bless.

Nuts Investigation

Posted Feb 28th 2007, 11:47am by Reiss Malone

Nuts Magazine have found a new breed of footballers known as SAF's - or more well known as Small Angry Footballers. Following Craig Bellamy's antics abroad last week Nuts have discovered that Bellamy is barmy because he's tiny. Other examples include Newcastle's wild Turk Emre and that little pushy Scot Paul Dickov. We think the founder of this footballer has to be Dennis Wise!

Definitely should be in the Premiership team of the year? Although Hannheman might give him bit of challenge

Posted Feb 19th 2007, 3:32pm by William Davidson

There are quite alot of good keepers around at the moment. But in that list have to be freidel and jaaskenlian surely.

Posted Feb 19th 2007, 4:57pm by Reiss Malone

my pick would be the bolton goalkeeper for over the whole season. Although isn't it strange how many keepers have got injured this season? Only one's who haven't seem to be James,Hannhemann,Reina, Robinson and Carson

Posted Feb 20th 2007, 10:12am by Terry Griffiths

Quite true TG. I think the biggest losses were Given for Newcastle and of course Cech for Chelsea five clean sheets in a row now!

I am with Terry that referee is a one off. Imagine him in the premiership, he wouldn't be able to handle the heat!

Where has Jonny been?

Posted Feb 1st 2007, 3:10pm by Daniel Collett

The Guardian (1st Feb) answers the question...

On Saturday the man dubbed Goldenboots by Sir Elton John will finally get to kick a rugby ball for England again. It's been 1,167 days and 44 England matches on the sidelines for Jonny Wilkinson since his last-ditch drop goal won the 2003 rugby World Cup. Ten serious injuries have kept him almost completely off the field. Never mind the MBE, BBC sports personality gong and reported £5m annual earnings; Wilkinson's absence must have come as a peculiar torture for such a famously obsessive competitor, a man who says the first things he wrote in joined-up handwriting as a six-year-old were "I love rugby" and "I would like to play for England". So what has he been doing all this time? Read more

World Cup Star's Wag De-Keks For Arena Magazine

Posted Feb 1st 2007, 9:50am by Daniel Collett

Strewth, hot on the heels of Nuts magazine's 100 Sexiest Footballers' Wives extravaganza (see our hilariously titled 'Wagging For It' headline yesterday), Arena Magazine has nailed a scoop of their own. And it goes someway to explaining why Theo Walcott was in such a hurry to get subbed off last night. He had to leg it sharpish down to his local newsagents to get himself a copy of the mag' which features raunchy pictures of his girlfriend Melanie Slade. The 2006 winner of the BBC Sports Personality Award for 'Not Playing Any Games For His Club And Then Getting On A Plane And Sitting In A Hotel Room' has been dating yound Ms Slade ever since he picked her up from her place, took her out for dinner, got on one knee, suddenly remembered how old he was, coughed politely and promptly did his shoe lace up. Rumours that Walcott has expressed feelings of being 'gutted' at this turn of events are as yet unsubstantiated but The Piper is reliably informed he has received a full season's quota of 'stick' from his team mates already, some of whom have spent vast amounts of their win bonus for beating Spurs last night on decorating the team coach with said pics. Walcott is, by all accounts, a nice lad. Even Slade thinks so. "He's a very nice lad" she was once overheard saying. Anyway this is going nowhere so why don't you check it out for yourself at www.arenamagazine.co.uk Buy a subscription while you're there, it's a corking mag.
