Roy Race 2007

Posted Feb 8th 2007, 12:31pm by Reiss Malone

He's back! The legendary hotshot comic book star Roy Of The Rovers has made a remarkable comeback, six years after his last magazine appearance in Match Of the Day magazine; Roy has been dusted down and will now be crossing the white line for fanzine Players Inc. In his prime, Race endured earthquakes, bombs and even had his leg chopped off in a helicopter crash. But you never heard dubious stories about him & Eddie Black doing inappropriate things with telephones or liaising with 200 year-old ladies of the night. The Daily Mirror's Nick Webster has written a hilarious account of how Race's diary might read if he was suddenly propelled back into a WAG infested Premier league 2007. Sample entry: "Raging hangover. Me and the lads were out till 3am celebrating my new Netto clothing contract." Go to The Mirror to read more about Roy's antics.

iSporty would like to hear about your own comic book heroes who you think should be getting a 2007 makeover.

Liverpool supremo's "Legacy of despair"

Posted Feb 8th 2007, 12:25pm by Reiss Malone

As if it wasn't bad enough for Liverpool fans to find out that their new owners are best pals with George W Bush, The Mirror today reports that Tom Hicks, one half of the dynamic duo who've bought the club, has been accused of dumping hundreds of UK workers without a penny when he folded circuit board makers, Viasystems. Ex-employees due up to £50,000 redundancy, got instead a statutory payment from the government of just 2p in the £1. Tom Ross, of the GMB Union said: "Hicks's former firm left a legacy of despair." Are you listening to this Peter Ridsdale?

iSporty wants to hear about your own personal legacies of despair. Did your sports club boss/manager/captain etc suddenly up-sticks and leave you in the lurch? Share your pain with us. We might not be able to help you in any tangible way but we want too show you that we're here for you 24/7 and whatever tale of woe you might have, we'll do our best to help you re-open your eyes and ears so that you will once again hear the giddy laughter of children and the glory of a British sunrise.

Getting tricky for Ricky

Posted Feb 8th 2007, 12:18pm by Reiss Malone

More trouble for Ricky Hatton! As if it wasn't bad enough being labelled a "fat bottler" by Floyd Mayweather Jr and Junior Witter, now Lovemore N'dou (no, I've never heard of him either) is claiming that Hatton is also a liar, accusing Hatton of going back on his word to give him a shot at his IBF title in the summer. Come on girls, leave the poor guy alone.

iSporty would like your nominations for the person who you think has had more than his or her fair chare of criticism over the years. Could be a sportsperson in the public eye or someone on your local team.

Got any boos?

Posted Feb 8th 2007, 12:15pm by Reiss Malone

England 0 Spain 1: Well that was fun wasn't it? You know something's wrong when you start switching over at goal kicks for a quick glimpse of Dragon's Den. I did this with 20 minutes gone and didn't remember to turn back until it was nearly half time. Mind you, Dragon's Den was good. Did you see the Rasta fella with the Reggae Reggae sauce? So good they named it twice. Lovely chap, good luck to you, mate. England on the other hand were not so good they named them twice. In fact, the crowd could barely be bothered to boo. Steve McClaren? He's certainly got them playing hasn't he?

iSporty would like your nominations for the dullest, most anti-climactic sporting event ever, whether you were watching or playing.
