The Arriva Youth Tour Cycle Race takes place on the 23rd of August and the 31st of August at Bryn Bach Park, Tredegar.
The phenomenal success of the RIS Insulation Junior Tour of Wales - an event fully supported by Blaenau Gwent Council throughout its 28 year history has led the organisers to programme an event for riders in the younger age categories (6 - 16yrs) The youth event will be on similar lines to the Junior Tour of Wales.
Sponsorship has been arranged with ARRIVA TRAINS WALES, who are keen to promote cycling as a positive activity for young people and at the same time celebrate the success of the
Ebbw Vale Line.
Geraint Morgan, community affairs manager for Arriva Trains Wales, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the development of cycling as a sport among young people and promoting healthy lifestyles. The current success enjoyed by British cycling at international level is sure to motivate everyone taking part and create intense competition for podium places.”
Racing begins at 10.30 am on both the 23rd and 31st August under Welsh Cycling Regulations.
Entry fee is £5 so get your entries in now! Closing date is the 18th of August.
Presentations will follow at Brynmawr Town Square at 14.15 on the 23rd where it will tie in with the 100-rider field for the R.I.S Junior Tour assembling for their race. On the 31st presentations will be at 3pm at the Bryn Bach Visitor Centre.
The racing takes place at Wales only Closed Road Cycle Race circuit at Parc Bryn Bach, near Ebbw Vale in Blaenau Gwent. The circuit is set in 340 acres of grass and woodland with a BMX track, visitor centre, bunkhouse, fishing and water sport lake together with camping facilities.
