Sunderland face an in-form Everton tomorrow, but the good news for the Black Cats is that Dean Whitehead could be ready for a return.

Meanwhile, as the loan transfer window closes today, Keane suggests that midfielder Graham Kavanagh isn’t leaving. Despite suggesting he won’t stand in the fellow Irishman’s way, Keane admits Kav has failed to agree a deal with anyone.

Sunderland fans felt they deserved more than a point following their dominating performance against the Barcodes on Saturday, and Joey Barton comes in for some stick in this fans’ match report.

Sam Allardyce, meanwhile, suggests Sunderland lack the killer instinct required to succeed in the top flight. Which is probably why Roy Keane has been linked with a number of transfer targets in January.

Only the best teams scored eight last night… as well as Liverpool, Sunderland’s reserves hit the mighty Wolveston for eight goals as well - Andy Cole finding the score sheet for his new club.

Roy Keane has been quick to diffuse any rumours linking star striker Kenwynne Jones and a move to Liverpool. The former Saints star has only been at the club for five minutes, but such has his impact been on the Wearside strugglers that papers are already linking him to the exit doors

You can all sleep easy tonight, Niall Quinn has agreed to let Newcastle chief Mike Ashley wear his Toon shirt at the Stadium of light this weekend.
