Ireland striker Kevin Doyle believes Terry Venables is the man to rescue Ireland following Steve Staunton’s sacking. The Reading ace thinks the Irish FA should seize the moment and make the former England boss Ireland’s supreme.

Ireland left the squad following the death of his grandmother. Only it wasn't the grandmother he first thought it was say The Telegraph...

Finnan out of Czech game

Republic of Ireland defender Steve Finnan is out of Wednesday's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier with Czech Republic.

The Liverpool player is out with a knee-injury adding to the earlier loss of Darren Potter and Stephen Ireland according to BBC reports.

Manchester City defender Richard Dunne insists the Republic of Ireland still have a chance of qualification for Euro 2008 despite Saturday's heartbreaking last minute equaliser from Slovakia.

The Irish have the daunting task of having to beat the Czechs in Prague say Sporting Life.

They will have to win the game without Stephen Ireland who is ruled out following the death of his grandmother report The BBC.
