All the results from this weekend's World Cup Downhill event in Maribor from our good pals at Dirt Magazine.

The results mean Sam Hill and Sabrina Jonnier take the individual World Cup titles.

Results leave SsangYong-fusion smarting

The SsangYoung-fusion team remain upbeat despite a disappointing showing from it's riders at the World Championships held at Fort William.

The tour heads to Maribor next weekend where they are aiming to improve say More Dirt.

Sabotage plot revealed?

The Forestry Commission has come under fire for "sabotaging" the future of mountain biking in Scotland.

The row is centred around plans to spend £1.5million developing mountain biking trails say The Sunday Herald.

Junfrau Marathon complete with hairdriers

While the World Championships have been taking place in Scotland over the Irish Sea the gruelling 40k+ Jungfrau Marathon was taking place. This blog complains it was too short though.

Ruaridh Cunningham went into the record books as the first Britain to claim gold in the downhill at the World Championships in Fort Willaim reports The BBC.

Absalon claims 3rd cross-country gold

French rider Julien Absalon won his third cross-country gold medal with victory in the World Championships in Fort William. Leading Bril Oli Beckingsale rolled over the line in 35th place say The BBC.

Two riders "unfit" to compete

Two riders in the World Mountain Biking Championships have been deemed unfit to race after failing blood tests. A Spanish woman and Austrian man have had their licenses revoked for two weeks after which they will be retested says Scotsman.com.

The same report carries all the results from yesterdays racing where Denmark's Jakob Fuglsang was victorious in the u-23 cross coutry.

Two sides to the MTB World Championships ..

Sadly though, as many riders compete in the Fort William event, there are a number of British riders who have been left out and bitterly disappointed, despite there being space in the event, as The Scotsman reports.

The Scotsman reports on the opening exchanges in this year's 2007 World Mountain Bike Championships.

On a financial level, the event is settle to boost the local Highland economy by up to £2million. Read more : here.

We're underway ..

The Herald reports that the 2007 Fort William World Mountain Bike Championships are underway, and it seems that one of the star attractions, Steve Peat (pictured), will be involved, as Dirt magazine updates us on his injured foot.

Anyone heading for the Championships might want to check out the Forest Fringe initiative as More Dirt reports.

World Championships are underway ..

Excitement mounts as the 2007 Fort William World Championships start today.

The magnitude of this event cannot be underestimated with the population of the small Highlands town set to double, as The Scotsman excitedly reports.

At the heart of the action, the BBC have their man on the ground (well, hopefully on his bike, not on the ground), so remember to keep up with Oli Beckingsale's 606 Diary over the coming weeks.
