Description
Nomads Korfball Club is a friendly/social but competitive Surrey/South London based club.
The club provides opportunities for ambitious and competitive sportsmen and women to play at the top of UK competition (the National League) and fosters development (both Senior and Junior), to International standard, with several players currently involved with the England squads.
We welcome experienced Korfballers and competitive sportsmen and women (Netball, Basketball, Handball, Rugby all have transferable skills) looking for the challenge to be part of a team building towards a future European place (Top 3 UK).
Nomads KC took the silver medal in the 2007 Under 23 National Championships and the club has a bright future ahead with a strong youth contingent coming through the ranks.
The club also provides the chance to play in local competition (the London League), with both competitive teams and social/fun teams incorporating adult and capable youth players.
Whatever your standard, Nomads has a team for you with 5 senior teams, Under 23s, 19s, 16s, 13s, 11s and 9s and links to local schools.
New members are always welcome whether beginner or experienced – join us.
Further Information
Korfball, invented in 1901 by an Amsterdam schoolmaster, is a game comparable to netball and basketball with one major exception - the game is designed to be played by mixed teams. It was designed in this way because he wanted a game which could be played by his schoolchildren where both boys and girls were able to compete on an equal footing within the same game.
It is the world's only true mixed team sport with the rules laid down so that both men and women have equal opportunities.
